As part of efforts toward hitch-free road crashes during and after the Sallah celebrations, the Katsina State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has taken its sensitisation campaigns to the Katsina Central motor park.

Speaking during the programme on Monday, the Sector Commander, Ibrahim Maiyaki Bazama said the enlightenment programme was to raise safety consciousness in among the motoring public in the State.

He said during festive period, there are possibilities of road crashes , “and it is on that note, we have been directed to sensitise and caution motorists on need to observe trafic rules and regulations.

“That is why it is not out of place that the theme for this sensitisation programme is, “Only the living celebrate.” “You can only celebrate sallah if you are alive and it is our responsibility at this point in time to remind you of somethings to be done for you to celebrate Sallah alive.

“We crave your indulgence to stop overloading and over- speeding to avoid possible crashes.

“Some people use this opportunity to over-speed in the name of business while you put your life and lives of others at risk.

“I am pleading stop over-speeding because it kills.

“You are to look out for your tyres, whether they are in good or bad shape to avoid any eventualities of crash.

“We are in rainy season where bad tyres lead to crashes easily” Bazama said.

Also speaking at the ceremony, Chairman, National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Katsina State branch, Jamilu Shaibu, promised total obedience to the sensitisation programme for a crash-free Katsina State.
