By Faith Awa Maji, Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command says it has foiled an attempted attack by suspected terrorists on Ruwan Dorawa village, Dutsinma LGA of the State.

Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq made the disclosure this evening saying the personnel killed one of the hoodlums.

According to ASP Abubakar “on the 26th of June, 2023, at about 1100 hrs, the command received a report that terrorists—bandits in their numbers, armed with dangerous weapons such as GPMG and AK 47 rifles, shooting sporadically—attacked Ruwan Dorawa village, Dutsinma LGA.

“Unhesitatingly, the Area Commander, along with DPO Dutsinma Division, led a team of Police operatives to the scene and engaged the terrorist in a fierce gun duel, as a result of which they were forced to abandon their heinous mission.

“While combing the scene, the body of one (1) neutralized suspected terrorist bandit as well as one GPMG with fifty-eight (58) rounds of 7.62mm x 51mm live ammunition were recovered. Investigation is ongoing.”
