Katsina Royal Father gets “Media Friendly” award

Journalists under the auspices of FrontLine Reporters have conferred an award of Media Friendly Royal Father on the Kanwan Katsina who is also the District Head of Ketare, Kankara Local Government Local Government Area, Alhaji Usman Bello.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Sarkin Labarun Kanwan Katsina, Jamilu Hashimu Gora.

The FrontLine Leadership award was presented to The Kanwan Katsina, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara during a glittering ceremony held at Welcome Centre International Hotels, Lagos and was graced by distinguished guests, including community leaders, media chiefs and well wishers who gathered to celebrate his outstanding achievements.

According to the statement, “the prestigious leadership award was presented to the Royal Father in recognition of his exceptional efforts in fostering strong and cordial relationship between the media and the traditional institutions as well as promoting transparency, cultural heritage and community development.

“Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara is a former Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Customs Service and now a traditional ruler who has demonstrated remarkable dedication to upholding the traditions and values of Ketare royal heritage by embracing the power of the media to connect with the wider public.

“As a retired Customs Comptroller, FrontLine Reporters acknowledges the efforts of Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara in using the media to enhance and foster customs and traditions of the region and the pivotal role they play in the society,” the statement said.

FrontLine Reporters noted further that “the commitments of the Monarch towards promoting unity and cultural diversity which has significantly contributed to the development and progress of the region through engaging with the media to highlight challenges and aspirations of Ketare District in Katsina State and enabling relevant stakeholders to proffer solutions and initiate positive changes.

Receiving the award, the Statement said that Usman Bello Kankara expressed gratitude to the organizers and all others who played a part in bestowing the prestigious honour on him and commended the Frontline Reporters for finding him worthy of the award.

The statement quoted Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara as emphasising the importance of synergy between the media and the traditional institutions in fostering inclusive and informed society.

According to the statement, the Kanwan Katsina pledged to continue to support the media and work diligently to further promote the welfare and prosperity of his people.

The monarch was a reporter with the Radio Nigeria Kaduna in 1975 before proceeding to Ahmadu Bello University Zaria to further his education.
