Police engaged terrorists in gun duel, rescue Kidnap victims in Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command says it has engaged terrorists in a fierce gun duel in Kankara Local Government Area of the State, and rescued kidnapped victims unhurt

Spokesman of Police in the State, ASP Abubakar Sadiq while briefing newsmen today in Katsina, said the personnel received information that terrorists armed with dangerous AK-47 rifle, shooting sporadically, attacked Sabon Gida village, Malumfashi L.G.A. and kidnapped five people.

According to him “on 6th August, 2023, at about 0500 hrs, an information was received that terrorists armed with dangerous weapons such as the AK-47 rifle, shooting sporadically, attacked Sabon Gida village, Malumfashi L.G.A., kidnapped five people, and were moving towards Kankara LGA. Upon receipt of the report, promptly, the DPO Kankara mobilised his men to the scene, where they engaged the suspected terrorists in a fierce gun duel and successfully rescued all the kidnapped victims unhurt. 

“Efforts are on with a view to arresting the fleeing suspects. Investigation is going”, the Katsina PPRO stated.
