Rivers State: Eggon community inaugurate new officials

The Eggon community of Nasarawa State living in Rivers State has inaugurated a new executive committee for its union.

Speaking at the ceremony last weekend in Port-Harcourt,  Chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Shuiabu Wada, told the Eggon community to unite as one indivisible family irrespective of any differences in religious beliefs, for development of the society.

Also speaking, the Jakadan Arum and a former aspirant for the House of Representatives Barrister David Ayuba Dumwe, expressed satisfaction and love shown to him by Eggon descendants in Rivers State and admonished them to always set the pace as they are one nation and that the history of Nasarawa State will not be complete without them.

In his acceptance speech, the re-elected Chairman of the Eggon Cultural Development Association, ECDA, Rivers State Chapter, Comrade Alex Usman Namo, thanked the members for the confidence reposed in him.

According to him, “I thank you all for your unreserved support, unity and corporation you gave to me during the last four years of my piloting the ship of this great association.

“In the first place, the association witnessed tremendous increase in our population size during the period.

“I inherited a relatively low population size when I became Chairman of this association four years ago. There were less than 20 members in our Association when I was made Chairman.

“Our Association did not limit its activities to projects but also improving the welfare

of our members especially in areas of offsetting hospital bills, condolence visitation, child birth, child dedication, among others.

“There have been many other achievements recorded during my first tenure.

“Time will not allow me to mention all of them during this short speech. All the achievements were made possible by the efforts of all of us.

“We all therefore should claim this credit of them. Without your cooperation my tenure would not have been so successful.

“The future of our association is quite bright. The association is likely to lead other chapters in Nigeria for a long time to come,” he said.

The newly inaugurated officials are, Comrade Alexander Usman, Chairman, Mr. Adamu John Neku, Vice Chairman, Mr. Victor Maga Arigu, Secretary and Mrs. Sarah Namo Akuaden, Assistant. Secretary.

The others were Mr. Audu Dari, Treasurer, Mr. Jonathan Audu Embus, Financial Secretary, Mr. Emmanuel John Aboki, Public Relations Officer, PRO, as positions of Director of Social, Provost Marshal, Women Leader and Assistant Women Leader went to Inspector Gabi Jacob, Mr. Joseph Eggon Kpaja, Mrs. Paulina Innocent and Mrs. Judith Samuel respectively.
