FCT Building Collapse: 2 killed, 20 rescued
…Police Chief visits scene

In response to the unfortunate incident of collapse of a two-storey building along Lagos street, by Nsukka street junction, Garki, Abuja, in the early hours of Thursday, the FCT Police Command swiftly responded to the emergency, dispatching specialised search and rescue teams to the scene.
The Command said it deployed personnel to locate and extricate those who are trapped. So far, 20 persons have been rescued from the scene while two others lost their lives.
The FCT Command said they are working in close coordination with other relevant agencies, including the Fire Service, emergency medical services and disaster response teams.
A statement by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said the Commissioner of Police, Garba Haruna, visited the scene and extended his thoughts and prayers to the victims and their families.
She urged members of the public to stay clear of the incident area in order to facilitate the ongoing rescue efforts and to allow emergency personnel work without hindrance.
