Katsina Corps members stage cultural festival

The 2023 Batch B Stream 2 of the Katsina State National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members have today, Saturday celebrated the scheme’s cultural festival aimed at promoting Nigeria’s rich and diverse cultures.

According to the organisers, the event was also aimed at preserving the Nation’s cultures and respect for the various traditions irrespective of ethnic backgrounds.

The Katsina State NYSC Coordinator, Hajiya Aisha Muhammad while flagging-off the cultural festival, urged corps members to actively contribute to the promotion of the nation’s diverse cultural values.

Different ethnic groups, including Urhobo, Efik, Jukun, Yoruba, Tiv, Fulani, Edo, Hausa, and Igbo among others showcased their rich cultural dance steps to the admiration of the guests at the event.

The Katsina State Cultural Dance and the Papapolo Cultural Troupes from Dandagoro also added colours to the NYSC’s cultural festival.

Highlights of the event was the inter-platoon cultural competition with Number 5 Platoon securing the first position.
