The Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has disbursed a sum of 100 Million Naira to each of the fifteen selected secondary schools poised for a significant transformation under the World Bank assisted – Adolescent Girls Initiative Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project, in collaboration with the state government.

Governor Radda made the disbursement during the official foundation-laying ceremony marking the commencement of a crucial project—seventy-five secondary schools to be constructed under AGILE.

The ceremony took place at the Koda/Dambuna secondary school in Charanci local government area of the State.

Governor Radda expressed his commitment to ensuring that all the schools are situated within a five-kilometer radius of their respective catchment communities for ease of access. “This project represents the first phase of a grand plan to establish one hundred and fifty new schools across the State, emphasizing the programme’s grassroots educational approach.”

Governor Radda also emphasised the importance of addressing educational needs at the grassroots level and voiced his hope that the allocated funds would be used judiciously for their intended purposes.

Dr. Mustapha Shehu Kofar Sauri, the State coordinator of the AGILE project, provided insights into the school projects.

He disclosed that the schools would encompass both junior and senior sections, featuring twelve classrooms, laboratories, a multipurpose hall, staff rooms, toilets, and the principal’s office in the senior section. The junior section would consist of ten classrooms, toilets, and an administrative block.

Additionally the Governor disbursed sum of N100m each to fifteen fortunate secondary schools including GGSS Kabomo, GSS Kofar Kaura, GSS Tsauri, Dankama, and Government Technical Charanci, among others.

In a related development, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda laid the foundation for the second Special Model School for the gifted children in Jikamshi, Musawa local government.

According to him, the initiative aligns with the his campaign promises and aims to provide talented children with access to quality education from the grassroots.

Alhaji Lawal Yaro, a member of the State House of Assembly representing Musawa, lauded this effort, highlighting its potential to enhance access to quality education and expressing gratitude to the governor for selecting Jikamshi for this school.

Furthermore, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has issued a directive for a comprehensive inquiry into the encroachment on lands belonging to public schools. This move seeks to prevent the illegal construction of structures within school premises.

The Governor, during an inspection of the ongoing construction of Danjanku Junior Secondary School in Malumfashi local government area of the State, urged individuals with concerns about encroachments to report them to the State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education for swift action.
