PDP alleges plot by government officials to disrupt tribunal sitting in Nasarawa 

The Nasarawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that some top government functionaries were planning to disrupt the Thursday, Sept. 14 sitting of the Governorship Elections Petition Tribunal in Lafia.

Mr. Francis Orogu, Nasarawa State PDP Chairman made the allegation at a press briefing on Wednesday in Lafia.

Mr David Ombugadu, governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is challenging the declaration of Governor Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winner of the 2023 governorship polls.

Orogu said that the officials in a meeting in the farm of one of them around Akwanga Local Government Area of the state recently planned to disrupt the sitting of Thursday, 14.

He said that the party had already informed the security agencies about the plan and expect that the security would be beef up at the tribunal to ensure that the sitting holds.

The PDP Chairman pledged that the party would continue to be peaceful throughout the period of the sitting of the tribunal.

Reacting to the allegation, Mr Peter Ahemba, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Public Affairs, described the allegation as false. 

The SSA that, peace and respect for rule of law has remained key to the governor Sule-led government and that no official of the state government would ever plot anything of sort.

He therefore urged members of the public to disregard the allegation in its entirety.
