Following the Nasarawa State governorship election tribunal verdict that sacked Governor Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress, APC and declared David Emmanuel Ombugadu of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, as dully elected Governor of the state, the party has rolled out plans towards the swearing -in ceremony of Ombugadu and his Deputy, Yahaya Ohinoye.

A statement issued by the planning committee tagged “SWEARING IN CEREMONY OF HON. DAVID EMMANUEL OMBUGADU AND HON. YAHAYA OHINOYI AS THE 5TH EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR AND DEPUTY GOVERNOR OF NASARAWA STATE” called on the people of the to begin preparations for the programme.

The party accused the Governor Sule-led government officials of seeking to overturn the judgement at the Appeal Court.

“We wish to invite the general public to the historic swearing in ceremony of his Excellency Hon.

David Emmanuel Ombugadu and Yahaya Ohinoyi as the 5th Executive Governor and Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State.

“As you may recall, after the tribunal declaration of the PDP Governor-elect, Hon. David Emmanuel Ombugadu as the rightful winner of the 2023 gubernatorial election of Nasarawa State having scored the highest lawful votes at the March 18th gubernatorial election and proven beyond reasonable doubts of facts established, the tribunal in their judgment directed INEC to withdraw the certificate of return from Engr. Audu Alhaji Sule and issue same to Hon. David Emmanuel Ombugadu,.

“We wish to call on the general public to begin their preparation for the swearing in ceremony as the line-up of activities will be announced soon.

“Meanwhile, information reaching us is that the outgoing Governor and all his cabinet members have left their offices and relocated to Abuja and other far northern states trying to pursue a shadow appeal hoping to upturn the already established facts before Nigerians.

“This action may likely cause a little delay to our preparations but we wish to call for calm as we give them a little time to see if they will be vacating the office soonest as directed or will insist on filing an appeal to defend what doesn’t exist.

“Furthermore, we wish to let the good people of Nasarawa State know that the appeal if filed will ony last for three months after which we shall celebrate as a family of Nasarawa State with the PDP flag shall rise from the Karu city gate to every house in Nasarawa State.

“We kindly urge the good people of Nasarawa State to remain peaceful and patient as we make

necessary arrangements for the swearing in ceremony of his Excellency Hon. David Emmanuel

Ombugadu and his Deputy Yahaya Ohinoyi.

“The ceremony promises to be massive and we encourage all citizens to participate in the ceremony as we shall celebrate the beginning of a new era in our dear State.

“We will make an announcement for the date and venue of the ceremony once it is finalised,” the statement said.
