Katsina: Police rescue 171 kidnap victims

The Katsina State Police Command said on Monday that it has arrested a total of 1005 suspects in connection with 853 reported cases between June 1 and September 30.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, a total of 395 of the cases are undergoing prosecution in various courts in the State.

The PPRO who spoke at a press briefing said that, “in the course of this campaign, a total of number 53 suspected armed robbers, 82 suspected kidnappers, 73 murder suspects, 90 suspected rapist were arrested, and a total number of 707 suspects were arrested for various offences such as criminal force, intimidation, being in possession of hard drugs/ dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, cultism, inciting disturbance and belonging to gang of brigands, among others.”

He said that the police rescued 171 kidnapped victims and killed five suspected kidnappers

He listed some of the items recovered to include, four Ak 47 rifles, six locally made guns, 517 live rounds of ammunition, 600 suspected rustled animals, 12 suspected stolen motor vehicles and motorcycles, 568 sachets of D5 tablets, 180 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, 23 packets of Exzole tablets, 411 packets of rebozel tablets and five packs of Diezole tablet.
