Again, terrorists on rampage in Katsina kill 5, kidnap 5

The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed that five persons were killed by terrorist-bandits at Sayaya village, Matazu Local Government Area on Tuesday morning.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the bandits in their numbers shooting sporadically with AK-47 rifles, attacked the community leading to the deaths while a number of other residents were wounded.

According to the statement, “on November 6, 2023, at about 0055 hours, armed bandits in their numbers, wielding dangerous weapons such as AK-47 rifles and shooting sporadically, attacked Sayaya village, Matazu LGA, Katsina State.

“Upon receipt of the report, immediately, operatives were mobilised to the scene, where they engaged the bandits in a gun duel and succeeded in repelling the attack.

“However, five people were shot dead, two injured, and five people kidnapped by the assailants. The injured were rushed to the hospital for immediate medical attention.

“The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, while condoling with the families of those affected by the attack, urged members of the public with information that will aid the investigation to come forward and assist the investigation as efforts are being intensified to ensure the unhurt rescue of the kidnapped victims and the arrest of the perpetrators of the dastardly act as the investigation proceeds. 

Further development will be communicated in due course.”

Suspected terrorists had last Sunday killed nine residents during a maulud procession at Rugar Kusa village, Musawa Local Government Area of the State.
