Insecurity: Katsina bans night gatherings, regulate daytime congregations

By Faith Awa Maji, Katsina

The Katsina State Government has banned all types of night large gatherings.

It also regulated those to be held during the daytime.

The Commissioner of Information and Culture, Bala Salisu Zango, in a statement on Friday said the ban was with immediate effect.

According to Zango, the general public is therefore warned against flouting the directive, saying violators will face the full wrath of the law.

Part of the release reads: “The Katsina State Government has banned all types of night large gatherings.

“This includes religious and social large public gatherings with exception of obligatory prayers.

“However, in the case of gatherings during daytime, when it becomes necessary to hold them, permission must be sought from the Police Divisional Office within the local government area, where the gathering will take place.”

The development may not be unconnected with killings of more than 10 persons in Musawa and Matazu Local Government Areas of the State few days ago.

Suspected terrorists had last Sunday killed nine residents during a maulud procession at Rugar Kusa village, Musawa Local Government Area as well while five persons were killed by terrorist-bandits at Sayaya village, Matazu Local Government Area on Tuesday morning.
