Katsina kidnapped female varsity student rescue by Police

One out of the five kidnapped female students of the Federal University Dutsinma in Katsina State has been rescued by the Police. 

Katsina State Police Spokesman, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, in a statement issued on Tuesday said the victim whose identity was withheld for security reasons was rescued in Zamfara State.

He restated the commitment of the command to employ available resources to ensure the rescue of the remaining four kidnapped victims.

“On November 20, 2023, the Katsina Police Command, in its unwavering commitment to ensuring the unhurt rescue of the five kidnapped female students of the Federal University Dutsinma, achieved a remarkable breakthrough in the ongoing rescue operation of the kidnapped students. Through diligent and sustained efforts, the Command is pleased to announce the successful rescue of one of the victims, whose identity is being withheld for security reasons, in Bilbis Village, Zamfara State.

“As the rescued victim receives essential medical attention, the command wishes to express gratitude to the rescued victim for her courage and assistance in providing valuable information. This information will undoubtedly aid our ongoing investigations, significantly increasing the chances of rescuing the remaining victims who are still being held in captivity.

“As part of its efforts to collaborate with relevant agencies and stakeholders, the Command is actively coordinating with sister security agencies and relevant stakeholders to gather additional intelligence and support. This collaborative approach aims to maximise efforts to swiftly bring the remaining captives back to safety. We will continue to employ every available resource, adopt all necessary measures, and leverage strategic partnerships to ensure the unhurt rescue of the remaining kidnapped victims.

“The CP urges members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station. We highly value the support and assistance of the public in contributing to our collective efforts in the ongoing fight against all forms of crime and criminality in the State” the statement. 

On November 4, 2023, five female students of the Federal institution were abducted by suspected terrorists in their residence located behind Mariamoh Ajiri Memorial International School along Tsaskiya road while police confirmed the arrest of one suspect in connection with the incident.
