A three-member panel of the Court of Appeal has reversed the sacking of Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State.
In a unanimous judgement on Thursday, the three-member panel of justices headed by Justice Uchechukwu Onyemenam, nullified the judgement of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal(GEPT) that declared David Ombugadu of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) winner of the election held on March 18, 2023.
The panel in a judgment held that the Nasarawa State Election Petition Tribunal erred in law in concluding that Sule did not win majority of the votes cast in the election hence set aside the judgment of the tribunal saying the judgment of Oct 2 was a nullity because, the governor was denied fair hearing and affirmed his reelection as Governor of Nasarawa State.
The Appeal Court sitting in Abuja has fixed Thursday, November 23, 2023, for judgment in the Nasarawa State governorship election dispute between Governor Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Recall that the court had on November 15, 2023, reserved judgment in the appeal by Governor Sule who is challenging his removal by the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.
