The moment Appeal Court sacked the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, member representing Umaisha/ Ugya State constituency, the House called for an emergency meeting Wednesday to decide next Speaker.
Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja today Tuesday in its late hour’s verdict, sacked the Speaker of the State Assembly.
The Speaker, before his sacking, member of the All Progressives Congress in the State and a longest ranking member in the State House of Assembly.
The verdict was delivered by the Court that sacked Ibrahim, had the candidate of the main opposition People’s Democratic party, Sa’ad Abdullahi Ibrahim declared as the rightful winner of the March 18 2023 election for the Umaisha/Ugya State Constituency.
The House called for an emergency sitting tomorrow Wednesday following the vacuum created as a result of the speaker’s removal.
In a related development, Appeal Court has affirmed the election of the member representing Keffi East constituency at the State Assembly, Ovye John.
Also the Appeal Court declared the election of Keana Constituency of the State Assembly inconclusive and ordered for a rerun in 5 PUs at Agaza Ward.
