School Sexual Assault: Katsina NAWOJ hails Gov Radda

By Faith Awa Maji, Katsina

The Katsina State chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has hailed Governor Umaru Dikko Radda for ordering the suspension of a school Principal over allegation of sexual assault.

“Your Excellency sir, we are solidly behind you on the fight against rapists in the state,” NAWOJ said in a statement on Saturday.

The statement signed by the group’s Chairperson, Hannatu Mohammed, and Secretary, Faith Awa Maji, urged the Governor to also take action concerning a similar case of sexual harassment of a woman journalist involving her General Manager in the state.

The statement said, “we equally call on the Commissioner of Police in the state to thoroughly investigate the alleged involvement of his Divisional Police Officer, DPO at Dandume in the alleged sexual assault of a female student.

“For the avoidance of any doubts, Katsina State NAWOJ will continue to frown at gender bias in schools and the workplace and exploit all legitimate windows of opportunity to ensure that the perpetrators face the full wrath of the law.”
