FG frees 15 inmates from Katsina correctional centre

The Federal Government has facilitated the release of 15 inmates at the Malumfashi Satellite Custodial facility of the Katsina State Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS). 

Minister of Interior,  Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who visited the facility paid the necessary fees to secure their release and also gave N10 thousand to each of the beneficiaries for transportation to their destinations.

A statement by the NCS Katsina State Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASC Najibullah Idris said the CGC, Haliru Nababa, quoted the Minister as saying that, “this is the first of its kind in the history of the country”.

The Minister said that the the initiative would go a long way in reducing overcrowding at the custodial centres which will consequently improve service delivery towards meeting international best practices.
