Katsina police celebrate harvest of 369 suspected rapists/sodomists, other criminals in 2023

The Katsina State police command says in 2023, it arrested a total of 1,627 criminal suspects describing 938 of them as “major cases.”

Briefing reporters at the police Command headquarters, Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar Musa said his officers and men accomplished notable success in combating the threat of banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, activities of social miscreants among other various other forms of crime and criminality in the State.

He said that, “in connection with 938 reported major cases, a total of 1,627 suspects were arrested while a total of 855 cases have been charged to court and are being prosecuted in various competent courts of Law throughout the State.

“Throughout the course of this campaign, over 258 suspected armed robbers, 64 suspected kidnappers, 176 murder suspects, 369 suspected rapists/sodomists were arrested and a total number of 495 suspects were arrested for various other offences.

“Also, the Command succeeded in rescuing 171 kidnapped victims, 67 human trafficking victims, neutralized 17 suspected kidnappers and recovered the following exhibits, 12 AK 47 rifles, over 1,500 live rounds of ammunition, over 700 suspected rustled animals, 12 suspected stolen motor vehicles and motorcycles, 17 suspected stolen phones. 

“Also, 568 sachet of D5 tablets, 23 packets of Exzole tablets, 411 packets of Rebozel tablets, and 5 packs of Diezole tablet, quantum of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

“The fight against crime and criminality is so dynamic and demanding but I urge you to continue to project the diligent and good work of the command and other security agencies to the general public.”
