Katsina Gov pays tribute to late Sir Ahmadu Bello

Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umar Radda, says he will emulate the efforts of the late Sarduana of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello.

Speaking at the 2024 annual lecture in memory of the late Premier of Northern Region, Radda said he would adopt the Sarduana’s model in revamping the education sector of Katsina State.

The Governor was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Alhaji Musa Rabi’u Mahuta, at the ceremony organised by the Katsina State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on Sunday in Katsina. 

He said that government had established new schools and upgraded a number of others, apart from employing over 7,000 teachers as part of the efforts at improving the level of education in the area.

The Governor stressed the unwavering commitment of his administration in tackling some pressing issues and working towards reducing the level of out-of-school children in the State.

The NUJ National President, Mr. Chris Isiguzo, who was represented by the National Vice President Zone A, Muhammad Tukur Umar extolled the virtues of Late Sir Ahmadu Bello.

In his welcome address, the Katsina State Council Chairman of the union, Alhaji Tukur Hassan Dan Ali described Sir Ahmad Bello as the father of Nigerian politics whose selfless service to humanity in Northern Nigeria can not be erased.

He explained that the maiden lecture was organised to eulogize Sir Ahmadu Bello’s giant strides in the North.

Also speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the occasion and Deputy Chief of Staff, Katsina State Government House, Alhaji Muktar Aliyu Saulawa, urged Nigerian politicians to emulate Sir Ahmad Bello for the country to thrive.

Highlights of the event includes paper presentations from the  Dons of academia centred on the theme ‘The North Should Rise Again”.
