The Nigeria Army has today Monday handed over no fewer than 35 rescued kidnap victims to the Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda at the Government House, Katsina.
Terrorists in a recent operation abducted the victims at the Katsina State Communities of Tashar Nagulle and Nahuta in Batsari Local Government Area.
The Commander, 17 Brigade, Brigadier-Gen. O.A Fadairo, who delivered the victims to Governor Radda said they were rescued at the Dumburum forest, “after an intensive exchange of gunfire with bandits”.
Responding, the Katsina State Governor noted that, “success is being recorded in the fight against banditry and many of them have been killed, their camps dislodged and a lot of weapons recovered through the joint efforts of security operatives in the State.”
He then commended the efforts of the Army and other security agencies in the State and reaffirmed that his administration will not take the issue of aiding bandits lightly no matter who is involved.
He said that government had introduced free medical treatment for victims of banditry as well as allowances to security personnel and support for the education of children who lost their parents during bandits’ attacks.
The Governor donated N100,000 to each of the rescued persons to enable them resume their normal lives.
