Katsina Govt directs MDAs to close operational accounts for TSA implementation

By Faith Awa Maji, Katsina

The Katsina State Government has directed that operational accounts of Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, in the State, should all be closed before the 14th of this month.

This will precede the full implementation of the Treasury Single Account, TSA, in the State Civil Service as from the 15th of February 2024.

Chairman of the TSA Implementation Committee, Alhaji Isyaku Muhammed  revealed this to newsmen at the Katsina State Government House, on Wednesday.

According to him, the full implementation of the TSA in Katsina would however be kick started after a test trial. “Henceforth, all funds meant for the State would be paid directly into the TSA,” he said.

The Implementation Committee Chairman, who is also the Executive Chairman of the Katsina State Board of Internal Revenue, said Polaris Bank has been selected to take charge of the TSA.

He however, noted that Access Bank would provide POS machines to be stationed at the revenue offices across  the all the 34 local government areas of the State, among other measures to block financial leakages. “We shall be using the media to adequately sensitise members of the public on the advantages of the TSA. Ahead of that, our Committee has already met with all the Council Chairmen on the issue.

“Our Committee has equally visited Kano and Kaduna States to examine how they are operating the TSA and the problems encountered, so as to come up with the best  TSA system in Katsina”.

Alh. Isiyaku maintained that the delay to implement TSA in Katsina last month was as a result of the careful procedure adopted to ensure salaries and other businesses of the governance are not tempered with.
