compliance with Section 197 of the Constitution as amended and other relevant sections of the Electoral Act, to give clear 365 days notice for the polls.

He said “all interested and qualified candidates from the registered political parties in the state are free to contest posts of the chairmanship and councillorship after meeting all the requirements to contest as contained in the relevant guidelines.

“Only candidates sponsored by the registered political parties will be allowed to contest in the elections.

“We appeal to all security agents in the state to provide adequate security coverage throughout the process especially in the frontline Local Government Areas with security challenges.”
