Terrorists kill 6, injure 10, set houses ablaze in Katsina – Police

The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed terrorists’ attack on Katsina community killing six and injured about 10 other people in the area.
Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq who confirmed the incident on Tuesday that, “on 19/2/2024, at about 2330 hrs, some suspected armed bandits in their numbers, armed with dangerous weapons such as AK-47 rifles, attacked Yar Nasarawa village, Faskari Local Government Area, where they shot and killed six persons, injured about 10 and set ablaze three houses and about ten motor vehicles.
“The Commissioner of Police has since deployed the Command’s tactical, operational and intelligence assets to the scene, combing the surrounding bushes for possible arrest of the perpetrators for diligent prosecution.”
Earlier in a telephone conversation with a resident of the area who was familiar with the attack said the terrorists in their manslaughter mission invaded three communities in Yar Nasarawa village in the late hours of Monday.
The source who does not want his name on print has said the terrorists attacked and burnt the man alive, killed five other persons at Yar Nasarawa village and set eight cars ablaze.
According to him ” we will just continue to pray for God’s intervention as all the approaches adopted by the government to stop banditry and terrorism in the State have not yet yielded fruitful results.
“At Yar Nasarawa village alone, six people were killed and eight cars were set ablaze. One of the victims has just been buried this morning in line with Islamic rites.
He however added that an unspecified number of persons were also said to have been kidnapped while several others wounded as a result of the attack.
“Six shops including grain stores, alongside an unspecified number of motorcycles belonging to the residents were also set ablaze.
“Similar attack was carried out on Madogara village in the same Local Government Area by another set of bandits, rustling an unspecified number of domestic animals.
“The hoodlums also attacked Ruwan Godiya village in the same Local Government Area and carried out their nefarious activities where to this end, residents are counting their loses “, according to another source.
