The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Katsina State has rejected the caretaker committee set by national working committee in the state.
Chairman of the party’s Elders’ Committee Senator Umar Ibrahim Tsauri, who addressed a press conference after a meeting of the Katsina PDP caucus said that following the leadership tussle in the State, the NNC was advised to dissolve the SWC and appoint a caretaker committee which was done immediately.
He said, “this made the majority to disagree with the caretaker committee’s activities, including the membership of the caretaker committee.
Majority of the members therefore approached the NWC with the intent of finding a lasting solution to the problem.
“The State caucus and critical stakeholders including the advisory committee made many efforts to sit with the NWC for face to face interaction but all the efforts proved unsuccessful because there are some people with vested and pecuniary interest who kept influencing the leadership of the WC.”
“We tried all efforts to sit with the NWC on the issue but failed. We later found out that the leadership of the NWC was being misguided by some vested interest from the majority. This situation continued to linger up to now between us and the NWC in the process of appointing a balanced CTC.
“This did not go down well with the majority and all critical stakeholders in Katsina State”, according to Senator Tsauri.
