How Arsenal can still win Premier League after City beat Fulham
Manchester City defeated Fulham 4-0 on Saturday but the title race is not yet over for Arsenal
Mikel Arteta will be doing everything to push Manchester City right to the wire.
Manchester City’s triumph over Fulham has cranked up the heat on Arsenal to keep the title race alive, ahead of their journey to Manchester United on Sunday.
The 4-0 victory at Craven Cottage has propelled the Blues two points clear of the Gunners, with both clubs now having played 36 matches. Arsenal have the opportunity to reclaim the top spot with a win at Old Trafford, but anything less would pave the way for City to clinch a record fourth consecutive crown.
Liverpool are now officially and mathematically out of the title race following City’s win on the banks of the Thames, with the champions on 85 points while the maximum the Reds can now accumulate is 84.
A loss for Arsenal on Sunday would mean that a win for Man City away at Tottenham on Tuesday night would see them crowned Premier League champions once more. A draw for Arsenal against United would result in the same scenario if City win next week.
If Arsenal manage to secure a victory against United, then City will be aware that triumphs in their final two matches would crown them as champions. Offering a glimmer of hope for the Gunners, City haven’t clinched a league win at Spurs since 2021 – although they did overcome them at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the FA Cup third round in January.
