Women’s role in peace, development top discussions of First Ladies at UNGA80

The First Lady of Katsina State, Zulaihat Dikko Radda joined her counterparts from across the globe at the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly to mark the 2025 United Nations Day in New York, United States of America

In a proud moment for Nigeria, Radda delivered a keynote address on behalf of the Chairperson of the Nigerian Governors’ Spouses Forum (NGSF).
Her speech underscored the pivotal role of women as catalysts for peacebuilding, social cohesion, and sustainable development.

She emphasised that empowering women to assume active roles in leadership and community development remains fundamental to achieving global peace and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Reaffirming the commitment of Nigerian First Ladies, Zulaihat stressed their dedication to promoting initiatives that uplift women, safeguard children, and foster peaceful communities, while aligning their efforts with international frameworks for peace and development.
The event, themed “Becoming Actions for Peace: Ambition for Women as Key Players in Promoting Sustainable Development”, brought together influential women leaders to exchange ideas and strengthen collaborations aimed at advancing peace and prosperity worldwide.
The commemoration served as a reminder of the collective strength of women leaders in shaping a future defined by peace, unity, and sustainable progress for generations to come.
