Nasarawa Attorney General leads defence team in suit before Mararaba Gurku High Court

By Suleiman Abubakar Rimi-Uku, Lafia

The Nasarawa State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Isaac Danladi, on Tuesday led a team of lawyers from his Chamber in defence of the state government in a suit filed before High Court 1, sitting in Mararaba Gurku.

The case, marked Suit No: NSD/MG/677/2025, was instituted by Mr. Moses Hussaini (the applicant) against the Nasarawa Geographic Information Service (NAGIS), the Ministry of Lands and Urban Development, and the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice as respondents, while Dr. Titus Gideon Angi was also listed as a party and represented by his counsel in court.

The Attorney General appeared for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd respondents, defending the state agencies in the matter.

The application, brought by the applicant pursuant to Order IV Rules 4 (a), (b), and (c) of the Fundamental Rights (Enforcement Procedure) Rules, 2009, and Sections 36, 43, 44, and 46 (1) & (2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), as well as Articles 7 and 14 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights, seeks a declaration that the withdrawal of the applicant’s land allocation was unlawful and violated his fundamental rights.

In response, counsel to the respondents filed a motion praying the court to strike out the suit for want of jurisdiction and for constituting an abuse of court process.

After hearing submissions from both parties, Hon. Justice Sunday Bawa, presiding over the matter, adjourned the case to November 20, 2025, for continuation of hearing.
