Matriarch Anna Shaku Kigbu passes away at 102

The Kigbu family of Barkin Abdullahi, (B.A.D) Lafia Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, on Saturday announced the passing of their beloved matriarch, Mama Anna Shaku Kigbu at 102 years.

This was contained in a statement by her last son, the Federal Commissioner at the National Population Commission (NPC) in Abuja, former House of Representative member representing Lafia/Obi Federal Constituency and a front-line APC governorship aspirant for Nasarawa State in 2027, Dr. Joseph Haruna Kigbu and made available in Lafia.
Mama Anna Kigbu born in 1923, was celebrated for her deep Christian faith, having dedicated her life to serving God and instilling strong moral values in her children.
Beyond her spiritual devotion, Mama Anna was a highly successful and influential businesswoman. Starting in the 1960s, she built a robust trading enterprise, specialising in staple foods across several Nigerian states, including Nasarawa, Benue, Plateau, Kaduna, and Kano.
Mama Anna’s commercial success was instrumental in providing education for all her children and numerous foster children, leaving an indelible mark on their lives.
She is remembered as a great merchant and a strong, hardworking woman whose legacy extends beyond her family. Mama Anna was one of the last surviving elders of the Koron Kuje Chiefdom.
Mama Anna Shaku Kigbu leaves behind a great and extensive legacy, survived by four children, 31 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral and burial arrangements will be announced by the family in due course, according to . Dr. Joseph Haruna Kigbu.
