An interest group,  Architect Shehu Ahmed Tukur (ASAT) Vanguard, from the five Local Government Areas that constitute the Nasarawa South Senatorial District, has called on a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Ahmed Tukur to contest for the 2027 governorship election in the State.

Speaking at the event crescent ‘call to serve rally’ on Saturday in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, Director General, ASAT Vanguard, Abdullahi Yanmani, said the call became imperative due to his exceptional leadership qualities and commitment to the development of the state from its creation in 1996 to date.

He said Tukur’s vast contributions have given him an edge as well as stand him out among other aspirants for the 2027 governorship race in the state.

According to him, “We call on Tukur to come out and contest in the governorship race because he has worked with all former military administrators as well as all the previous and present civilian governors in the state.

“Tukur was instrumental in the designing, remodelling and building of the Government House, Presidential Lodge, Modern Markets in so many LGAs, Bus Terminals in Lafia and Karu, among other projects.

“His deep connection with the grassroots, humility and warm appeal have endeared him to the hearts of many of us.

“We see in him a leader who listens, understands our struggles and genuinely seeks our uplift, hence the reason for the call on him to contest,” he explained.

Yanmani expressed optimism that with the proven record of selfless service, strategic insight, industry and inclusive mindset, Tukur would lead the state into a new era of unity, development and prosperity.

Also speaking, ASAT coordinators of the five LGAs of Nasarawa South Senatorial District urged Tukur to answer the call and contest for the seat.

Umar Rilwan-Talba, from Awe, Yahaya Mirror from Doma, Adamu Oyiko, from Obi LGAs said his wealth of experience is highly needed in the state in order to continue from where Gov. Abdullahi Sule would stop.

“Tukur’s acceptance to contest for the seat would give residents of the state hope of continuing to improve on the legacy projects brought by the current administration,” the coordinators added.
